Curriculum Intent

• At Pinchmill Primary School we believe art and design is an important part of our children's entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum.
• Art and design encourages children to develop and extend their creative skills along with opportunities for self- expression, developing resilience and confidence and thinking skills through individual and collaborative activities.
• Our Art curriculum allows children to build their skills through a carefully structured progression sequence. We want them to develop their own ideas, master techniques and take inspiration from the greats
• We focus on six skill areas: drawing, painting, collage, printing, textiles and sculpture. Each year group will explore techniques building on the previous year and work towards a finished piece that combine these new skills. They take inspiration from artists (classic and contemporary)
